Personally, I couldn't decide if I wanted this or not, since the reviews were dissing it so much, but this story was pretty good. I will mention the review about the Heroine bing sick is correct and it was more them not like if the story and I respect their opinion on the fact that this whole thing could have been solved if she told her husband about her sickness instead of running away.... but I also understood the Heroine's perspective. So the story is the Heroine wants a divorce from the Hero because she has an inherited sickness ( which she doesn't want to pass on to their children and), she I'll end up in a wheelchair by 30 and eventually get so bad she'll be in a coma. Not wanting him to suffer with her, she leaves him.
To me that makes sense. Instead of having ... forcing someone to suffer with me, I'd be more like a cat a disappear. Can you imaging watching your best friend ..or lover die a slow agonizing death over years and years? You'd wand to put yourself in their place if you could ( take the on the on coming car or sword), but you can't. Your stuck in place, you can't move, you can only get a front row seat. Being the sick person, I'd rather them remember the good times and have hope even if it's false.
The Hero of this story is OMG Alpha, and Not just any alpha, an Alpha's Alpha! What a man! This is an an example of a guy who would fallow you to the ends of the earth! (for better or worse ^^') in the beginning he goes after her for revenge ( though I think that's just an excuse), but I did question later if.... he was becoming a stalker.... ... yeah... ... ... and considering her property, is a little much.... okay a lot.... XP
But the way the story was told was awesome! ( believe me one wrong move and we'd have one heck of a disaster on our hands. There is one thing that could make it better, how they got together in the first place, but maybe that's in the original and there wasn't any room for it.

Lovers Not Friends Harlequin comics eBook Helen Brooks Jun Makimura Reviews
Amy Forbes found out she would have a disease that would affect her muscles and she would become ugly. Her husband Blade loved her, but she felt he wouldn't after she started showing the affects of this disease.
Her only sister Sandra was dying from this disease and she bitterly told Amy she would look forward to her going to waste especially her looks.
Without giving Blade a chance to talk her out of it Amy left him.
Blade was away in France, when he came home to an empty house, and a short note telling him Amy wanted a divorce, he felt he had lost his own life without her.
She was sure he would be happier without her, but Blade hired a private detective and he found Amy.
Blade claimed he only wanted to teach Amy a lesson, and he didn't care about her anymore. But he lied.
First he dropped everything and went to her when he found out were Amy was, then he stayed in the small village to be by her. He was determined to find out why she left him.
Blade found out almost immediately that John Davies wasn't Amy's lover, not that he didn't want to be, but Amy only saw Blade.
Although it took almost all the book for the truth to come out, when he found out why she left him, Blade confronted her on not trusting him and the love he had for her. That was so cool.
From the back of the book 'The determined husband! Amy is blissfully happy married to Blade until she discovers a secret that could destroy everything.
Now everything has changed. She has to get away, has to leave Blade before he can find out the truth-a truth that would ultimately destroy him. Amy hasn't bargained on one thing, though-Blade's determination to never let her go!'
It was interesting author uses the word 'toxic' in describing the loathing coming of Blade - he is demented in his constant vicious attacks towards Amy. I felt fear the way he grabbed Amy, shook her with his face black with rage. More than half the story has his hate filled glares and seriously frightening threats. He assaults her and calls her the trashiest whore after he virtually forces his mouth and hands on her. YUKKKKKKKK!
Amy is a doormat, shrinking from his violent spat attacks and not once speaking up, even with his high-handed arrogance as he declares 'change your plans for the day (her only day off from exhausting job). I'm not inviting you - I'm telling you' In the next breath he tells her that as she has left him, he is a free agent to do as he wants so sit in your corner and shut up.
Hero's hate is all through the story - there is nothing cool, nothing loving. Nothing.
Good book and story.
Oh such a beautiful, glorious heart rending story! First, never take love for granted, and always double check on all the important things.
